On May 17, 2016, the 14th China international foundry expo was held in Beijing international exhibition center (new), thousands of companies from around the world took part in this exhibition, EasyMFG carried a large industrial binder jetting sand 3d printer to the exhibition, which aroused the intense attention from the foundry industry and the media.
China's foundry history can be originated back 6,000 years ago. Casting technology has been widely used in many areas ranging from ancient bronze ware to the present aircraft engine.
Casting is a manufacturing process in which a liquid material is usually poured into a mold, which contains a hollow cavity of the desired shape, and then allowed to solidify. The solidified part is also known as a casting, which is ejected or broken out of the mold to complete the process.
Common metals that are cast include cast iron, aluminum, magnesium, and copper alloys, while the casting materials can be sand、metal, and even ceramic. In the casting industry, wax mold, sand core, sand mold, and so on should be produced by pressing wax mold and core box mold. The production process is very complex, and it is very easy to cause problems and rework. For the engine mold with a complex structure, the development cycle is longer, which can not meet the needs of rapid iteration of today's products.
3D printing may provide a venue for addressing many of these concerns in an inexpensive and easily accessible method. Combined with design, 3d printing, and casting, a 3d printer can directly print out sand molds and cores, which can quickly realize the transition from design to product, shorten the development cycle, reduce time costs and improve product research and development speed.
This time, EasyMFG brings some figurines printed by binder jetting full-color 3d printer. Firstly, the customer just uses a customized APP called “Douyou” developed by EasyMFG to get a selfie. Then get the model by integrating the body of cartoon characters and the customer’s selfie together.
Finally, a vivid figurine will be printed out!
EasyMFG showcased the company's newly developed large-size binder jetting sand 3D printer in this exhibition. At present, industrial 3D printers used in the casting mold industry on the market are mainly based on SLS technology, but the laser and other core parts need to import at very high costs.
This first domestic large binder jetting sand 3d printer, featured in the latest binder jetting sand 3d system, flexible control system, economical maintenance costs and simple operation cost, etc., can print out the part with size up to 1 meter, the printing speed more than ten times of SLS, but cost less than half of the SLS, which bringing the newest and intuitive technology experience.
